Consultation for Microneedling
Clinician-led assessment for concerns such as uneven texture, fine lines and post-acne scarring, with treatment planned around your skin, medical history and individual goals.
Microneedling is a skin treatment that uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin, encouraging the natural repair processes involved in maintaining skin quality. At Esti-Med, Katrina will assess your skin first and consider whether microneedling is appropriate for the concern you would like to address.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS
A considered approach to microneedling
Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels within the skin using fine needles. This controlled response is used to support the skin’s natural repair processes and may help improve aspects of texture and overall skin quality over time.
It may be considered for concerns such as fine lines, uneven skin texture and certain types of post-acne scarring.
Conventional microneedling is different from RF microneedling. It does not deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin, and the two treatments should not be considered interchangeable.
The appropriate treatment depth, area and number of sessions depend on your skin and what you are trying to improve. At Esti-Med, treatment is planned around assessment rather than applying the same protocol to every patient.
What may it help with?
Microneedling may be considered where the aim is to improve skin texture and overall skin quality through a planned course of skin treatment.
- Uneven skin texture
- Fine lines
- Post-acne textural scarring
- Dull or tired-looking skin
- Reduced skin firmness
- Overall skin quality
The most appropriate approach depends on your skin condition, the type and depth of the concern and whether microneedling is suitable for you.
GOOD TREATMENT BEGINS WITH GOOD JUDGEMENT
Is this right for you?
Microneedling may be suitable if you are concerned about texture, fine lines, post-acne scarring or a general reduction in skin quality.
Suitability is individual. Katrina will assess your skin and consider your medical history, medication, previous treatments, tendency to scar and any active skin conditions before recommending treatment.
Microneedling should not automatically be performed simply because a skin concern is present. Active infection, inflammation or certain other skin and medical conditions may mean treatment needs to be postponed or that another approach would be more appropriate.
Your consultation
Your consultation is an opportunity to explain what you have noticed about your skin and what you would realistically like to improve.
Katrina will assess the treatment area, skin condition and relevant medical history before discussing whether conventional microneedling is appropriate or whether another option may better suit your concern.
If treatment is recommended, the proposed depth and treatment area, expected course, realistic outcome, recovery, risks and cost will be explained before you decide whether to proceed.
What to expect
A clear explanation of your appointment, from preparation to follow-up.
01 · BEFORE YOUR VISIT
Preparing for care
Please provide an accurate medical history and details of medication, allergies and previous skin or aesthetic treatments.
Let us know about any active skin irritation, infection, cold sores, recent procedures or significant changes to the treatment area before attending.
You do not need to decide beforehand how many microneedling sessions you require. This will be considered as part of your assessment.
02 · DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT
Your appointment
Katrina will assess your skin and confirm the areas being treated before beginning.
A microneedling device containing fine sterile needles is passed across the skin at an appropriate depth for the area and treatment goal. The technique and depth can vary according to the skin being treated.
The aim is controlled treatment rather than simply using the deepest setting possible. More intensive treatment is not automatically better treatment.
03 · AFTER YOUR VISIT
Support afterwards
The skin will usually appear red and may feel warm, tight or sensitive following microneedling. Mild swelling or pinpoint marks can also occur.
You will receive clear aftercare guidance and information about how the skin is expected to settle.
Where a course is recommended, further sessions will be spaced appropriately to allow the skin time to recover between treatments.
Recovery & aftercare
Redness, warmth, sensitivity and mild swelling are common after microneedling. The skin can initially feel similar to mild sunburn and may appear dry or slightly flaky as it settles.
You will be given individual aftercare advice following treatment. This may include using gentle skincare, avoiding unnecessary touching of the area and temporarily avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive heat, swimming and active skincare products.
Sun protection is particularly important while the skin is recovering.
The skin should be allowed time to settle before the outcome is assessed. Where microneedling is being used as part of a course, improvements in skin quality are expected to develop gradually rather than immediately after one appointment.
If you experience anything unexpected or are concerned about your recovery, contact Esti-Med for advice.
Risks & considerations
Microneedling intentionally creates controlled micro-channels within the skin, so temporary redness, sensitivity, swelling, dryness or pinpoint bleeding can occur following treatment.
Less common effects can include prolonged irritation, infection, changes in skin pigmentation, worsening of an existing skin condition or scarring.
Skin type, current skin condition, previous scarring, medication and recent treatments can all influence suitability and recovery. Appropriate treatment depth and careful aftercare are therefore important.
The risks and considerations relevant to your skin will be discussed during your consultation before treatment is undertaken.
Treatment options & pricing
Your treatment plan will depend on the area being treated and whether a single session or course is recommended.
| Treatment | Price |
|---|---|
| Microneedling | Price TBC |
The recommended treatment plan and full cost will be confirmed following assessment and before you decide whether to proceed.
Your questions, answered

CLINICALLY LED. PERSONALLY DELIVERED.
Care built around you
Effective microneedling is not about treating every skin concern at the same depth or making the treatment as intensive as possible.
Your skin type, condition, treatment area and what you would realistically like to improve all influence the treatment plan.
As a Registered Nurse and Independent Nurse Prescriber, Katrina brings clinical assessment and professional judgement into that process, including recognising when treatment should be adapted, postponed or avoided.
The aim is a considered treatment plan that supports your skin rather than simply performing a procedure.
Refine. Restore. Rejuvenate.
