Consultation for Chemical Peels
Clinician-led assessment for concerns such as uneven skin tone, dullness, texture and blemish-prone skin, with treatment selected around your skin condition, medical history and individual goals.
Chemical peels use carefully selected solutions to exfoliate the skin and encourage its natural renewal process. Different peels work at different depths, making assessment an important part of choosing an appropriate treatment.
At Esti-Med, Katrina will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and recommend whether a chemical peel is suitable, which approach may be appropriate and what you can realistically expect.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS
A considered approach to chemical peels
Chemical peels use carefully formulated exfoliating solutions to remove or loosen surface skin cells and encourage renewal. Depending on the peel used, treatment may help improve the appearance of uneven tone, rough texture, blemishes and some signs of skin ageing.
Not all chemical peels are the same. Different formulations and strengths act at different depths, and the most intensive option is not necessarily the most appropriate for your skin.
A superficial peel may be considered where the aim is to refresh the skin and improve mild concerns. More intensive peeling can involve greater recovery and additional risks, so treatment selection should always reflect your skin type, condition and suitability.
At Esti-Med, the focus is on choosing a treatment that has a clear purpose within your skin plan, rather than simply selecting the strongest peel available.
The aim is gradual, considered improvement in skin quality, with realistic expectations about what treatment can achieve.
What may it help with?
Chemical peels may be considered for a range of superficial skin concerns where controlled exfoliation could support a clearer, smoother or more even-looking complexion.
- Dull or tired-looking skin
- Uneven skin tone and superficial pigmentation
- Rough or uneven skin texture
- Blemish-prone skin and congestion
- Fine lines
- Certain superficial post-acne marks
The most appropriate peel depends on your skin type, the underlying concern and how your skin is likely to respond to treatment. Not every concern or skin type is suitable for the same approach.
GOOD TREATMENT BEGINS WITH GOOD JUDGEMENT
Is this right for you?
Chemical peels may be suitable if you are concerned about uneven texture, dullness, superficial pigmentation or blemish-prone skin and would like to explore a treatment to improve overall skin appearance.
Suitability depends on your skin type, current skin condition, medical history, medication, previous treatments and ability to follow the recommended aftercare.
Particular care is needed where skin is sensitive, inflamed, recently sun-exposed or prone to pigmentation changes. Some skin conditions or medications may mean treatment needs to be postponed or a different approach considered.
At Esti-Med, the decision to treat is based on what is appropriate for your skin, not simply whether a chemical peel is available.
Your consultation
Your consultation is an opportunity to discuss what you have noticed about your skin, the products you currently use and the improvements you would like to achieve.
Katrina will assess your skin type, condition, treatment history and any factors that may affect how your skin responds to a peel. This includes discussing skincare products, medication, sun exposure and any previous reactions or pigmentation problems.
If a chemical peel is appropriate, Katrina will explain the recommended approach, expected outcome, possible need for a course, recovery, risks and cost before you decide whether to proceed.
You do not need to choose a particular peel or strength before your appointment.
What to expect
A clear explanation of your appointment, from preparation to follow-up.
01 · BEFORE YOUR VISIT
Preparing for care
Please provide an accurate medical history and details of any medication, allergies, previous skin treatments or reactions.
Let us know about your current skincare routine, particularly if you use exfoliating acids, retinoids or other active products. Katrina will advise whether anything needs to be stopped before treatment.
Recent sun exposure, tanning, irritation or changes in your skin should also be discussed before your appointment.
02 · DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT
Your appointment
Katrina will assess your skin and confirm the treatment area and recommended peel before beginning.
The skin is prepared and the selected peeling solution is applied according to the treatment plan. You may experience warmth, tingling or stinging while the solution is working.
The application time and any neutralisation or removal steps depend on the product being used. Your skin response will be monitored throughout.
03 · AFTER YOUR VISIT
Support afterwards
Your skin may appear pink or red and feel warm, tight or sensitive after treatment. Depending on the peel, some dryness, flaking or visible peeling may develop over the following days.
You will receive specific aftercare instructions, including guidance on skincare, sun protection and products to avoid during recovery.
Where a course is recommended, further treatments will be planned around your skin’s response and the time needed for recovery.
Recovery & aftercare
Recovery following a chemical peel depends on the formulation, strength, treatment depth and your individual skin response.
Some people experience mild redness, dryness or tightness, while others develop more noticeable flaking or peeling. Visible peeling is not necessary for a treatment to have an effect, and the amount of peeling should not be used as a measure of success.
Your skin will need appropriate care while its protective barrier recovers. This generally includes gentle cleansing, suitable moisturisation, avoiding exfoliating or irritating skincare products and protecting the skin from direct sun exposure. Daily broad-spectrum sun protection is particularly important.
Avoid picking, scratching or deliberately removing peeling skin, as this can increase the risk of irritation, pigmentation changes or scarring.
Katrina will explain when you can resume your usual skincare routine and any activities that need to be temporarily avoided. If your skin develops an unexpected reaction or you are concerned about recovery, contact Esti-Med for advice.
Risks & considerations
Chemical peels intentionally affect the outer layers of the skin and can cause temporary redness, warmth, stinging, sensitivity, dryness and peeling. The extent of these effects varies with the type and depth of peel.
Less common complications can include prolonged irritation, blistering, burns, infection, changes in skin pigmentation or scarring. Some people may experience darkening or lightening of the treated skin, particularly if they are prone to pigmentation changes or the skin is exposed to sunlight during recovery.
Chemical peels can also reactivate cold sores in susceptible individuals, making previous episodes important to discuss before treatment.
Your skin type, medical history, medication, current skincare and recent sun exposure all influence treatment suitability. Stronger peels can involve greater risks and recovery requirements.
The risks and limitations relevant to the peel recommended for you will be explained during your consultation so that you can make an informed decision about treatment.
Treatment options & pricing
Your consultation helps establish which type of chemical peel may be appropriate for your skin and whether a single treatment or course is recommended.
